In 2008 the hotel was refurbished in a $16 million project that included new digs for the front office and the bar located in the lobby. New restaurants and bars were all also included. The $53 million project saw two gaming floors merged into one and then doubled in size, while the second level was transformed into the Gold Club Room for VIP players. The first set of renovations at Jupiters began in 2006, two decades after it opened. The casino is owned by Echo Entertainment, which is also responsible for the Star Sydney and the Treasury Casino and Hotel Brisbane. Since then it has undergone both a series of renovations and a series of scandals. Jupiters was partially opened in November 1985, before its official completion in February 1986. It is connected to the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre via skywalk, and to the Oasis Shopping Centre by monorail.įor those who like to swim with the sharks, it’s only a nine minute walk from Jupiters to the beach. On our visits we tend to stick to the old mainstays of poker and blackjack, but they've also got roulette, craps and for those who fancy themselves the James Bond type they've even got some (mini) baccarat tables. For those primarily interested in trying their luck at games of chance, the main floor offers some 70 table games and 1600 gaming machines. Jupiters is the Gold Coast's premier nightlife entertainment destination, not only boasting the city's largest casino, but also offering a Las Vegas-esque programme of live events, concerts, comedy performances and much more, as well as a half dozen restaurants and a variety of bars.
